Phuket

Phuket..a place with a similar nightlife to Bangkok, but a relaxing beach vibe during the day.

Being in Phuket for 4days was a nice relief from the hectic lifestyle of Bangkok. During the day we stayed on Bangla Road, eating some Pad Thai, drinking Singha, and relaxing on the beach. Pa Tong was the area of Phuket we stayed in. Two of these pictures are just relaxing during the day on Pa Tong beach. Pa Tong is a relaxing beach with an interesting layout. It can be crazy because there is parasailers dropping out of the sky, jet skis shooting in and out of the water, and probably 1,000 people trying to sell you everything from local fruits and nuts to jet ski rides and henna tattoos.

At night things got crazy. Hundreds of shops disappeared and were replaced by bars, lady boys and ping-pong salesmen. The nightlife was interesting, but you must experience it for yourself. This is a picture of Bangla Road at maybe midnight.

The bottom picture is a fun one of Christophe and Phee at a fun bar being silly. Lots of bars similar to this exist. You pay an average price for the drink and you play games with the bartenders, or they throw silly hats and sunglasses on you. One very interesting game was just referred to as the "Hammer and Nail game." There is a 2/3 foot in diameter log and you have to pound a nail into it. The catch is you don't have a regular hammer but rather one with no flat side. Not sure how to explain but it was very hard, and very interesting.
