Shanghai Skyline

This first picture is across the Huangpu river, a great shot of the best skyline I have ever seen. The large building on the left is called the Pearl Tower and we got the chance to go up the the 2nd large ball and see the entire city. The side of the river I am on is the West of the river. All those buildings are in the financial district and on the East side.
The building below with the trapizoid hole is the Shanghai World Financial Center (My Favorite).
The other is the Jin Mao Tower.
I am at the end of Nanjing Road, the worlds longest shopping district at about 6km long. Hundreds maybe thousands of shops all legitimate. There is also many back ally shops to buy the largest selecting and highest quality of knock offs imaginable.
Shanghai was fun, but this is honestly the highlight of the city. It has a lame, lame night life and with the exception of shopping it did not have a ton to offer. The Shanghai World Expo is going on in the city, but from what all the locals, and other tourist told us it was totally not worth it to see in person.
Here is the link to the expo site, might be cool to look at, there are dozens of building representing many countries around the world. http://en.expo2010.cn/

And the video is from the Pearl Tower. It had glass floors on one level and it was pretty cool, plus being able to see the whole city was fun.

  1. Thanks for the video and the skyline shots. They are super. The architecture in Asia blows my mind. So much variety. So did your bungee jump training come in handy when standing on a glass floor? All that way down and not a rubber band in sight! It's a shame about the expo, though. I wonder if it was a world expo of just a china expo of the world. I'll check out the website but First! your next post. It looks to be a good one!

  2. Hi Phillip,
Your are right that is an incredible skyline. It almost looks like it's photoshopped into the picture. The variety of shapes is great. I would expect there to be a lot of crowds in China. Were the people friendly at all even though they did not speak any English? I will show Grandma all the new blogs. She loves seeing and hearing from you. Can't wait to see more pictures. Talk soon Love Mom

  3. On the whole the people were not friendly unless they were taking your money. The language barrier made it tough to get close to the people. Nobody was outright rude to us, but not very many helpful people either. I will keep posting pictures, and if you have a request of a picture I'l see what I have, I took about 300 in total, and Grandma can expect a call soon.
