Winter Update

Well today we had the first sighting of snow here in Seoul, and man was it nice. I stepped outside this morning feeling rather tired and groggy. But not 2 seconds into my walk I realized all the snow coming down around me. I instantly smiled. Big fat white flakes falling on the streets, on my face and all over the city. I was instantly reminded of being home, and waking up to some fresh flakes or maybe a nice dusting of snow. There was no dusting this morning but the the snow continued to fall. Throughout the day the flakes fell, sometimes slow, sometimes almost like a blizzard. On Wednesdays I have an hour and a half break at 2:oo so I was walking home and man was it coming down. Just outside work Terry, an employee at Wonderland who handles everything from our apartments to fixing the copier, to delivering the mail. Great Great Wall

The Great Wall of China is simply that Great! We took a day long tour out to the Great Wall, it is about 2 hours outside of Beijing, and there are four different areas you can visit. The section we visited was the Mutianyu Great Wall. It has 20 watch towers, about half of which you can go on the roof, check out the best views. This section also connects with the very original section of the wall. This section was "off limits" to the average tourist. We we not the average tourist though and we were able to stand and hangout on the very original section of wall. It was amazing to see the thing winding up and down the mountain side, always on the peaks of the mountain. Watch towers every so often, cannons here and there pretty amazing. This first picture is a small example of the thousands of steps we had to climb there. Chicken Fighting

In Korea, there is the most interesting sport of chicken fighting. This is a sport between two or more people, 4-6 is a good number. Each person holds one of their legs up with their arm so that they are hopping on one foot. Now the fun part starts, let the ramming and smashing begin. You just hop and hurl your body at the opponents. If you are the last one standing; you win! This is common in Korea but it needs to get more popular. Just a down right kick ass sport. Here is an example from Wonderland, we recently had a ChickenFighting tournament.
